Cornelius K9s receive ballistic vests

Jan. 26. The Cornelius Police Department’s two K9s, Britt and Dag, received K9ballistic vests through the nationwide Groupon Event that raised over $335,000. The campaign — which aimed to outfit police K9s with bullet and stab protective vests — ran through March 2014 in correlation with Vested Interest in K9s. The online $10 donation suggested interest persons purchase a Groupon through a secure website where funds were allocated to purchase ballistic vests for K9s who put their lives on the line, as well. Each vest costs $950 and has a 5 year warranty.
