Child care center planned for Westmoreland

Nov. 16. True North Cos. of Roswell, Ga. is seeking zoning approval for a new child care center at 8715 Westmoreland, just west of the Legacy Apartments and to the east of the proposed mixed-use development on the iconic Alexander Farm. The facility would be known as the Vanderbilt Children’s Cottage.

There will be a community meeting on Tuesday Nov. 28 at 5:30 pm in Room 204, Cornelius Town Hall.

“The requested use for this 4.68 acre site is an approximately 12,000 square foot Child Care Center, along with associated parking and infrastructure,” said architect Jeff Mangas from Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton & Tilton, an Ohio firm. “The Child Care Center will also include a fenced-in play area conforming to all applicable regulations for minimum size.”

True North will be seeking town approval for several exceptions from the land development code due to the layout of the property which is currently owned by Jason Alexander and Mary Sloop.
