Candidate forum/BBQ today at Town Hall

TODAY. Doors open at 11 am for the Old Fashioned BBQ & Candidate Forum, a unique opportunity to hear what our 2018-2019 elected officials say about issues facing our town. Tickets at the door are $10; the price includes a full BBQ lunch. Proceeds benefit the TopDeck Foundation, which supports Cornelius Police.

There will be a traditional pork barbecue with all the fixins, a blessing from Rev. Ellison Bowman, pastor of Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church, a patriotic song and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Pro Tem Woody Washam. Rev. David Judge, pastor of First Baptist Church in Cornelius, will moderate the forum. Bridget Rainey, co-founder of TopDeck, will be the timekeeper.

It’s a unique format that’ll keep the candidates on their toes and allow us to get a glimpse into their vision for Cornelius. Lunch is served at 11:30 am, with a hard close at 1 pm.

When? Oct. 6, 2017 from 11:30 am to 1 pm
Where? Community Room Town Hall
Cost? $10

We will present a check to the TopDeck Foundation, which supports the Cornelius Police Department, at the conclusion of the event.

Cornelius Police Sgt. Jonathan Sarver, a gospel singer, will lead the assembly in a patriotic song.

The event runs from 11:30 am to 1 pm Oct. 6 at Town Hall. Candidates are available before and after the formal program. Doors open at 11 am
