Cancer fundraiser sets sail March 4

Carolina Grace, a 100-foot yacht, will be the setting for Carnevale Rosa di Firenze, a fundraiser for breast cancer survivors who will be participating in the 2018 International Breast Cancer Paddlers’ Commission (IBCPC) Participatory Festival. Held every four years, this international race will be in Florence, Italy in July. More than 100 teams from around the world are expected to attend. Healing Dragons is the one of two teams participating from the Carolinas. The fundraiser runs 3 pm to 6 pm March 4.

“Carnevale Rosa di Firenze will be unlike any other event in our area as the Carolina Grace will be transformed into a festive, celebratory and fun floating venue for this unique fundraising event,” said Marlah Ebert, president of the Healing Dragons team and co-captain of their Florence team.  “Where else can you watch an amazing sunset with 100 other non-profit supporters while floating on Lake Norman in March!”

Event details include an Italian-themed menu, entertainment and decor. Plus, a silent auction and raffle. To date, some of the auction items include a custom designed necklace donated by Skatell’s jewelry store; a one night stay at the Great Wolf Lodge; gift certificate for a massage and facial from Massage Heights; local restaurant gift certificates; a custom-designed bracelet; Italian-themed food baskets; and, two tickets to Opera Carolinas “The Marriage of Figaro.” Event tickets are on sale for $100 per person and are limited to the first 100 sold.
