Aug. 27 run for Little Smiles

The “Rock ‘n Run” 5K/10K benefiting Little Smiles will be held in Birkdale at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 27 in conjunction with the Lake Norman/Huntersville Rotary.

There are two ways to register: before the race online at http://www.lakenormanrotary.org/rotaryrocknrun up until Aug. 25 5:30, or at the event on race morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. Your race experience will include live music and prizes for the top finishers. There is also a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. Proceeds will benefit children in local hospitals, hospices, shelters and other like facilities.

Registration Fees

5K – $25 on or before August 6, 2016; $30 from August 7, 2016 until race start
10K – $30 or or before August 6, 2016; $35 from August 7, 2016 until race start

1 Mile Fun Run/Walk – $20 through race day (will not be timed)
Race Routes
The 5K and 10K races will be chip-timed. Maps for the 5K and 10K courses are located at http://www.lakenormanrotary.org/rotaryrocknrun

Packet Pickup
Packets will include a race bib with disposable timing chip, safety pins, and a high performance dry-fit tee shirt. Runners are guaranteed a t-shirt if they register by Aug. 6. Packets may be picked up on Aug. 26, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports located at 16620 Cranlyn Road. Packets may also be picked up on race day at registration between 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

Parking
There is ample free parking in the Jason’s Deli parking lot, 16639 Birkdale Commons Pkwy.

Awards
1st – 3rd overall male and female for the 5K and 10K races

1st – 3rd male and female for the 5K and 10K races for the following categories: 11 and under, 12-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60 and 60+

About Little Smiles:

Little Smiles is a volunteer driven, non-profit 501(c)3 children’s charity. Their mission is to help kids in local hospitals, hospices, shelters and other like facilities. With the guidance of local professionals such as doctors, nurses, child life specialists and social workers, they strive to help kids escape their unfortunate circumstances, even if only for a short period of time.
