Francophone Film Series Presents: Saint Omer

7- 9:30 pm |  Sept. 10. Saint Omer court of law. Young novelist Rama attends the trial of Laurence Coly, a young woman accused of killing her 15-month-old daughter by abandoning her to the rising tide on a beach in northern France. But as the trial continues, the words of the accused and witness testimonies will shake Rama’s convictions and call into question our own judgement.Chambers Hance Auditorium (CHAM-4121), Davidson College.

Broken History: Caviness Ceramics art exhibit

10 am – 4 pm | Tuesdsay – Thursday. Brad and Bryan Caviness are brothers who make unique ceramic artwork in North Carolina. They combine their interests in history with talents for art and design to inspire an appreciation for monumental achievements in art and architecture, bring attention to the destruction of ancient sites, and generate an interest in preserving the ones that are still here, whether threatened by the slow progress of time, natural disaster or war. Wednesday, Sept. 11

9/11 Anniversary Ceremony

8-9 am | Sept. 11. At the Never Forget | 9/11 Monument, Cornelius-Lemley Fire Station #1,19729 S. Main St. The Cornelius Never Forget | 9/11 Monument, which includes a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, honors the first-responders, citizens and military personnel who were affected by the events on September 11, 2001, and educates future generations about the events surrounding this day in our nation’s history.

Francophone Film Series Screening

6-10pm | Sept. 11. “Let the Church Say” (2022), a film that explores the historical impact of the Black American church and posed a daunting question: Is the Black church dead? Knobloch Campus Center Alvarez- Smith 900 Room, Davidson College.

Chronicles of Yarnia Discussion Group

Downtown Reimagined

Second Friday Street Festival

Charlotte Symphony Orchestra 

7:30 pm | Sept. 13. Charlotte Symphony returns to Cain Center for the Arts for a dynamic program entitled “How We Got Here: A Journey Through Sound & Time.” Led by Resident Conductor Christopher James Lees, the first half of the program will be filled with beloved pieces from Handel, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Bizet, while the second half will feature well-known repertoire from Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Sousa, Copland, Ellington, Loesser and Williams. Live Under The Oaks

Cornelius Festival of Cultures

3-6 pm Sept. 14. Free, community event to experience the many cultures that make up Cornelius and the surrounding areas. Food, drink and beer/wine vendors, handmade items from arts and craft vendors, live performances from local groups, kids’ crafts.  Cain Park, 21336 Catawba Ave.

Downtown Davidson Fall Arts Festival

4-8 pm | Sept. 14. Art, food and music. The festival boasts over 40 local artists, live music on the town green and  an interactive arts area full of free craft activities for the kids. Shops and boutiques will be open late. Main Street, Davidson.

Second Annual Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival

Davidson College Concert Series: Czech Chamber Music

3 pm | Sept. 15. his concert is in honor of the Czech Music Year, celebrating the anniversaries of luminary Czech composers. In recognition of Czech musical heritage, the concert includes the Pavel Haas String Quartet no. 1 and the Gideon Klein String Trio.
