March 15. Permanent pavement striping is planned to begin Monday morning on the Catawba Avenue bridge over I-77. It’s expected to take 7-9 days to complete and some lanes will be closed. Work is anticipated to occur between 9 am and 4 pm. In a press release Sunday, the town said night temperatures are too cool for the striping to occur after 5 pm.
The Town of Cornelius was notified around noon Friday that the DOT would be closing lanes on the DDI for striping. The town issued a press release Sunday morning to notify the public.
Assistant Town Manager Andrew Grant said the 9 am to 4 pm closures are approximate. “We have encouraged the DOT to not do lane closure during lunch time,” he said, pointing out higher traffic volumes around noon each day.
