Sefton Park development outlined in red

Sept. 25. By Dave Vieser. It appears another year may go by before construction begins on the 10-acre Sefton Park Project.

Approved in September 2021 by the Cornelius Town Board, the unkept property is located east of Emporia Street, between West Catawba Avenue and Sefton Park Road just west of Liverpool.

“The developers are continuing to discuss technical issues with the town and county,” said Michael Johnson, spokesman for Greenville, SC-based builders Jack and Don Shaw. Johnson estimates that it could be as much as another year before clearing begins.

Plans are for a mixed-use development with 344 multi-family units, 7,800 square feet of commercial space and a hotel/conference center.

Tractor trailer trucks were parking overnight at the site, but that issue has been resolved by blocking Emporia Street.
