Wine and Design Lake Norman

(Jan. 22) Elizabeth Coleman of Mooresville recently created a Wine and Design studio in Cornelius and classes are slated to begin shortly. Wine and Design Lake Norman is part of a franchise network headquartered in Raleigh, NC that offers artist-led classes to teach painting-on-canvas in a group setting. Classes are intended for people who have no painting experience, and it is great for groups or individuals who want to share laughs as well as a professionally-guided creative experience.

Work by Alexandria Cruz - instructor for Wine and Design Lake Norman

Coleman is opening Wine and Design on Jan. 25th in Cornelius, NC. The former sales executive spent months deliberating what type of franchise to purchase. When friend, Sharon Russell, emailed her about Wine and Design, they went to Charlotte, NC for a painting session. “The vibe of the session was so energizing it inspired me to purchase a Wine and Design franchise to serve Lake Norman communities,” Coleman said. She purchased the franchise a few months ago and signed a lease that commenced December 1 at 18059-7 West Catawba Ave., Cornelius.

Coleman asked Charlotte-artist, Alexandria Cruz to teach the initial class on Jan. 25. Driven by a bold palette, Cruz specializes in mixed-media and abstract painting. Born in Puerto Rico, she moved at age four with her family to Charlotte, NC. An artist since an early age, she graduated with majors in psychology and art from UNC Charlotte and earned her Masters of Art Therapy from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She served as an art therapist at GW University Hospital’s adult psychiatric unit.

Patrons of Wine and Design events pay a $35 fee per session, which covers all materials, apron and instruction. Reservations are required.
