April 30. A GoFundMe account has been established by Back The Blue NC for the families of the four law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty yesterday after a routine warrant service went wrong.

“Today, we lost some heroes who were just simply trying to keep our community safe,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Chief Johnny Jennings said.

The tragedy unfolded yesterday afternoon around a private home in east Charlotte.

Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles stated: “I am deeply saddened by the shooting that occurred that involved Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers and US Marshals today. I ask that all Charlotteans keep them, the other injured officers, and their families in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
