The Cornelius Police Department and the town’s Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture Department will host the National Night Out community celebration Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 6 to 8 pm around the Gazebo in Jetton Village.
The free event promotes community, safety and awareness. There’s food, children’s activities, an inflatable slide and a dunk tank for police. Police and fire vehicles will be on display and open for exploration by kids.
Cornelius Police will also be collecting school supplies for the annual Pack the Patrol Car during National Night Out. Items collected will be distributed to students at Cornelius Elementary, J.V. Washam Elementary, Bailey Middle and W.A Hough High School. Recommended supplies include paper, pencils, pens, highlighters, notebooks, binders, index cards, tissues, crayons, markers, colored pencils and backpacks.
